How much an influencer campaign costs

For people preparing a budget who want to understand what they are paying for before comparing quotes.

In short

A creator campaign budget splits into three independent parts: creator fees, optional media buying, and the operational work of whoever runs the campaign. There is no meaningful rate card based on follower counts - the price follows the scope, the number of publications, the usage rights and how much of the process the supplier takes over.

The three parts of a budget

What a campaign cost is made of
PartWhat it pays forWhat raises it
Creator feesProducing and publishing material in the creator’s channel.Number of publications, format, exclusivity, rights to use the material outside the channel.
Media buyingPaid distribution of material - the brand’s or the creator’s.Campaign objective, auction competition, length of the flight.
Operational workSelection, negotiation, contracts, coordination, deadlines, payments, reporting.Number of creators, number of approval rounds, contractual complexity.

In a readable quote these three parts are separated. If the price is a single number with no breakdown, there is no way to tell whether the budget goes on material, on coverage, or on administration.

Why there is no rate card by follower count

A cost per thousand followers looks like a convenient benchmark and is one of the more common budgeting mistakes. The reason is simple: followers are neither a unit of work nor a unit of outcome.

What actually separates rates at similar reach

  • Format - dedicated material takes many times more work than a placement inside an existing episode.
  • Rights - permission to use the material in advertising is a separate licence, not an add-on.
  • Exclusivity - an undertaking not to work with competitors carries a real opportunity cost for the creator.
  • Timing - compressing production usually costs more than adding another publication.
  • Fit - a creator whose topic overlaps with the category delivers a different outcome than a creator of the same size from outside it.

How to read a quote

Five questions worth asking about any quote

  1. Which lines are creator fees and which are the supplier’s own work?
  2. Is media buying inside the budget or outside it?
  3. How many revision rounds are included and what happens once they run out?
  4. Which usage rights does this figure cover, and for how long?
  5. What exactly will the report contain, and against which metrics?

Answers to those five questions make two differently priced quotes comparable. Without them you are comparing numbers that describe different scopes.

How we price at Rokmates

We build the quote around a specific project, after a conversation about the goal - not from a rate card. Before the start you know what goes into creator fees, what into media buying and what into our work.

The scope is agreed up front and it drives the price, not the other way round. You can take creator selection alone alongside your own creative, production alone, or media alone on existing material.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum budget for this to make sense?

We do not quote a threshold, because it depends on the goal. A campaign with one well-matched creator and a clear objective is often more sensible than the same budget spread across ten. The starting point is the goal, not the figure.

Is media buying always necessary?

No. It makes sense when you need coverage or conversion beyond organic, and when the creator material genuinely performs. Amplifying weak material raises the cost, not the result.

Do you work on a performance basis?

Some parts of a campaign can be settled against results and some cannot - a creator controls neither the algorithm nor audience behaviour. We agree the model before the start and say plainly what we take responsibility for.
